How did it all begin?

It all began way back in 1993 when I was jogging along River Road and saw a For Sale sign at a little farm.  Just for fun I stopped to look and the place was quite overgrown, with a big old barn in the back and a small farm house.  Just for fun I called the realtor and it ended up in my lap practically overnight.

I had given up my first home to go on a mission trip, my first of five, to Czechoslovakia, and now the Lord was giving me back something much better!

Fast forward to 2006, to a couple of years after my fifth mission trip, that one to Africa for the third time, to Swaziland; after much prayer I decided to develop the property into a plant nursery.

At this point let me be very candid.  The first two years of the business I was in way over my head and was overwhelmed.  I developed a lot of hip pain and was limping around for a couple of years, and along with that had such a defeated attitude, that the nursery would never make it!  But as a last resort this year I decided to give it another try, now with a new hip (I had my surgery last August) and a new attitude.  I now have a commitment and a lot more faith, believing in myself, with God's help, that I can and will succeed!

My vision is for Grandma's Garden to be a place for people to enjoy, rather than just a nursery.  It is open to family and corporate events, inside and outside the barn.  I will be having an event once a month for people to attend, especially oriented to women and GRANDmothers, in the months of May through September or October, that will be either free or for a small fee. The events will be fun and inspiring.

I'm looking forward to meeting you when you come visit.

God bless you!
